William Charles “Bill” Vincent, 71 of Independence, MO, passed away surrounded by family on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Vitas Hospice at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. Cremation is planned with a memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church 611 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050. There will be a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. followed by family visitation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Topeka, KS. Donations may be made in his name to Vitas Hospice in Kansas City, MO and the Amyloidosis Foundation (www.amyloidosis.org). Bill was born June 20, 1941 in Jacksonville, FL to Edward S. and Helen C. (Turek) Vincent. He attended public schools in Topeka, KS and graduated from St. John’s High School in Kansas City, MO and later St. Thomas Seminary School in Denver, CO with a Master’s in Theology. He was ordained a Catholic priest in1967, serving as a priest for five years in the Kansas City area. After leaving the priesthood he held various sales and custodial/building maintenance jobs. Bill was a gifted musician, singer and artist with many hobbies and interests including music, model railroads, drawing, art history, working on cars, playing bass and guitar, and his beloved past time of singing karaoke to Frank Sinatra. He was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO. He is survived by; a son, Charlie Vincent and his wife Kara of Olathe, KS; 2 daughters, Tina Amaro and her husband Brad of Overland Park, KS and Kathleen Vincent of Olathe, KS; a sister, Claire King and her husband Charlie of Topeka, KS and his companion of 15 years, JoAnn “Hunter” French of Independence, MO.
