Virginia Kay Fenton, born on February 19, 1941, in Erick, Oklahoma, passed away unexpectedly on September 7, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was 84 years old. Virginia was the cherished daughter of Lloyd and Jessie (Holland) Frazier.
A resident of Independence, Missouri, Virginia attended William Chrisman High School. After her graduation in 1959, Virginia dedicated 25 years to her career as a Driver Examiner with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, where she made history as the first female driver examiner in the state of Missouri. She retired from the department as a Driver Examiner Supervisor II. This distinguished accomplishment was a testament to her hard work and dedication.
On January 16, 1960, Virginia married Gerald Fenton in a union grounded in the Baptist faith. Together, they shared a loving partnership that lasted until Gerald's passing on December 24, 2019. Virginia remained a faithful and devoted wife throughout their years together.
Virginia's life was richly filled with love for her immediate family, which includes her two sons, Timothy James Fenton and Paul Allen Fenton, and her three beloved granddaughters. Though a member of Mensa, Virginia had a profound appreciation for the simpler pleasures of life, often enjoying tranquil visits to the family farm in Iowa. She also found joy in cross stitching and reading, particularly favoring mystery and crime novels, especially for the works of Stephen King.
Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Fenton; her parents, Lloyd and Jessie Frazier; her brother, Dale Frazier; and her sister, Jean Fenton.
A visitation will be held for Virginia from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM. A graveside service will take place at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Haines Cemetery in Centerville, Iowa.
Virginia Kay Fenton leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and strength, and she will be forever remembered by her family and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
