Virginia "Ruth" Turner

Virginia Ruth Turner was born on September 12, 1931, and passed away on March 5, 2025. 

On December 21, 1952, Ruth married Robert (Bob) Turner. To that marriage two daughters were born, Debra and Jan (Bill); 3 grandchildren, Paul Marsh (Riane), Calla Marsh, Michael Marsh (Joanna) and great-grandson, Felix Marsh. Bob and Ruth were married 67 years.

Bob, being a Community of Christ appointee (missionary) was assigned to several places in the United States. Bob and Ruth were eventually sent to southern Texas, then to live in Peru and then later to Argentina. While in Peru, Ruth attended the Spanish Academy and finished the courses offered thus continuing her studies in Spanish. Eventually the Turner family moved from overseas back to Independence and finished their lives there.

While in Independence, Ruth helped out with teaching English as a second language. She worked in this position for 25 years. 

Ruth was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ and served as an Elder for many years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bob, her parents, 6 brothers, 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews. 

Services for Ruth will be held at 3pm at the Village Heights Congregation on May 17, 2025.
