Pearl Vollmer, 93, Independence, MO passed away July 31, 2010 at the Kansas City Hospice House. A visitation will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. with a 10:30 a.m. service to follow on Wednesday, August 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at Floral Hills Cemetery. Pearl was born August 20, 1916 in Meriden, KS to Charles and Rena (James) Danner. She was raised in Topeka, KS, and graduated from Topeka High School. In 1940, she married Orval Vollmer. Pearl had been a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was raised in a Christian home. Pearl attended Beverly Hills Baptist Church, where she worked with the 3 year olds in the nursery for over 20 years. She then became a member of Noland Road Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star (receiving her 50 year pin), as well as Young At Heart. In 2001, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orval Vollmer; and in 2010, her daughter Diane Doctor. She was also preceded by her parents; three sisters, Evangeline, Chrystelle, Thelma; and one brother, Ralph. She is survived by her two grandsons, Mark Doctor and wife Tonya and Brandon Doctor and wife Jenny; four great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Karsyn, Landon and Avery Doctor; son-in-law, Lynn Doctor; two nieces, Linda Bethel and Eva Mock; and one nephew, Bruce Danner. She will be dearly missed. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Noland Road Baptist Church or the Kansas City Hospice House.
