Kenneth P. Walker, 86, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3726 Lee’s Summit, Rd., Independence, MO 64055 with Father Jim Taranto as Celebrant and Father James Healy as Con-Celebrant. Visitation and the rosary will be one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial in Mount Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Catholic Charities, 2200 Central, Kansas City, KS 66102-4797. Kenneth was born June 22, 1924 in Kansas City, MO. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII at Normandy and in the Battle of the Bulge as a combat engineer. Mr. Walker retired as a machinist from Bendix in 1988 and had previously worked for Vendo for 25 years. Kenneth was a devout Catholic and had been a member of St. Mark’s Parrish for over 30 years. He was a loving and generous man and loved his family dearly. Kenneth is survived by his wife Wilma (Cook) Rapp-Walker; son Ken Walker (Sally); grandsons Michael Walker (Berry), Paul Walker (Kim); great-grandson Owen, whom he was most proud of; and by a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy (Cindrich) Walker in 2001.
