Ellen E. Wallace, 94, of Independence, MO passed away on November 21, 2012. She was born September 13, 1918 in Calico Rock, Arkansas. She is survived by daughter, Jessie (Bill) Gordon; two sons, Gary (Mary) Long, and Lee (Susan) Wallace; one stepdaughter, Amanda Gernhardt; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Wayne (Donna) Rash of Garland, KS. She was preceded in death by husbands, Bruner Long, Elbert Galbraith, Manuel Wallace and Carl Mannschrek; one stepdaughter, Melinda Schneider; and siblings, Ruth Rice, Roy (Bud) Rash, and Paul Rash. Ellen grew up in the Rockport, MO area and lived many years in the Olathe, KS area where she raised cattle. She always raised a large garden and her greatest joy was sharing her bounty with others. She was a member of The Church of Christ of Independence, and endeavored her whole life to encourage others in their spiritual lives. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 25, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Services at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at the chapel with burial to follow at Floral Hills East Cemetery.
