Walter Michael "Mickey" Stoddard

August 3, 1949 — June 20, 2024

Independence

Walter Michael “Mickey” Stoddard was born on August 3rd, 1949, and passed away on June 20th, 2024, at the age of 74, after a long battle with COPD and lung cancer. He drew his final breaths surrounded by loved ones, including children, grandchildren, and siblings.

Mickey earned his living as a carpenter and performed the trade until retirement. He was always quick with a joke, right until the very end. He was a history buff and an avid sports fan, his favorite teams being the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Yankees, and the Kansas City Royals. He purchased a copy of the Kansas City Star every day, reading the entire newspaper and doing the crossword puzzle. He especially enjoyed poring over the sports statistics.

Mickey was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Stoddard (Lomax), his grandmother, Helen “Ma” Belmont, his mother, Erlene Toscano, and his stepfather, Sam Toscano. He is survived by his children, Robert Toscano, Christopher (Rachael) Toscano, Clayton Stoddard, and Sarah Stoddard, his grandchildren, Austin Spurrier, Shane Spurrier, Mara Toscano, Sapphire Toscano, and Jack Toscano, and his brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Charlene Toscano.

Please forward any memorials to the family, c/o Sarah Stoddard.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Omaha, NE, at a later date.
