Larry Eugene Wanbaugh, 65, Blue Springs, MO passed away Thursday, July 30, 2009 surrounded by his family.
Memorial services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House or Cancer Action.
Larry was born December 25, 1943 in Independence, MO the son of John W. and Dora N. (Johnston) Wanbaugh. He was employed for 43 years with Kansas City Area Transportation Authority as a Superintendent of Maintenance, retiring in 2006. Larry served as Executive Board Member of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1287. He was an honorary member of the KC Kustoms Car Club and attended the Plaza Baptist Church of Blue Springs. He enjoyed refurbishing cars, hunting and was always first to help someone in need. Larry was skilled in many trades. He never hesitated to share his knowledge, or use it to help family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John W. Wanbaugh; brother Ed Wanbaugh; and stepfather, Joe Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ann (Stansfield) Wanbaugh; children, Lori E. Craven and her husband Brett of Liberty; Jerry E. Wanbaugh of Kansas City; and John Wanbaugh and his friend Sherry Fernandez, both of Overland Park, KS. Three grandchildren, Erin Wanbaugh, Quinlin and Kati Craven; mother, Dora N. Wilson of Independence; sister, Bobby Ivey and her husband Ted of Independence; and mother in law, Jean Stansfield of Blue Springs.
