Wanda Lee Queen, 82, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025.
Wanda was born in Kansas City, Missouri to Elijah Savin and Ruth Lucille Souder on December 6, 1942.
She attended grade school through 7th grade in Nevada, Mo. The family then moved to Independence, Mo. where she continued school grades 8th thru 12th and graduated from Van Horn High School in 1960.
Wanda married Donald E. Graves in 1957 and to this union two children were born, Sherryl and Darryl. After several years of marriage, they divorced. She was a devoted single parent who raised her two children.
In 1988 she married the love of her life, Eddie Queen. They were married for several years before he passed away.
She worked for many years at Rupert’s in Blue Springs, Mo. until they closed. Then she worked at Walmart several years before her car accident which led her to retirement.
Wanda loved to play Bingo and UNO with family and friends, especially her grandson, Jordan. She also enjoyed watching the Price is Right, westerns and cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs.
She was a much beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt and will be greatly missed.
Wanda is survived by her daughter, Sherryl Majors and her husband, Neil; her son, Darryl Graves and his wife, Patie; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephew.
She is preceded in death by her mother, father, two brothers and her husband, Eddie Queen.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20th from 1-2pm followed by a service at 2pm. Burial will be at Floral Hills after the service. Family suggests contributions be made to the Salvation Army in lieu of flowers.
