Ruth Watkins

Ruth Ann Watkins, 78, of Houston, TX, formerly of Independence, MO, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007 at Houston Hospice House. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, with burial to follow in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Tuesday. Ruth Ann was born July 27, 1929 in Kansas City, MO to Robert and Mary Margaret (Gray) Webb. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1947. Ruth Ann was active in the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as regent in both the Independence Pioneers and Yolo (Woodland, CA) chapters. An accomplished church pianist and organist, she was a member of the First Christian Church of Houston, and previously of Eastgate Christian Church of Independence. Ruth Ann is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bill, daughter Nancy and husband Gary Stephenson of Redondo Beach, CA, son Robert and wife Nannette Watkins of Houston, TX, granddaughter Stacy Watkins, and grandsons Eric Watkins and Daniel Gossett.
