Wayne Curtis Cooper gently left this world on February 1, 2026, at the age of 88, surrounded by love in Independence, Missouri. Born on November 30, 1937, in Parsons, Kansas, Wayne lived a full and vibrant life marked by his passions, accomplishments, and unwavering commitment to family.
Wayne served honorably in both the Air Force and the Navy, experiences that filled him with pride and shaped his strong character. After his military service, he joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 124, where he devoted many years to his career as an electrician. His hard work and dedication earned him the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he served.
Wayne's interests were diverse and deeply fulfilling. He had an impressive knack for aviation, lovingly building model airplanes and even crafting his own plane. His passion for flying was matched by his love for adventure, often seen riding his cherished Honda Goldwing with his wife Marlene. In quieter moments, he enjoyed indulging in classic films from Turner Classic Movies and relishing the sounds of the 50s music era. Dining out was yet another joy, where he created cherished memories with loved ones over delicious meals.
Throughout his life, Wayne remained grounded by his proudest accomplishments: his family and his military service. He faced each day with a strength that was mirrored by the love he extended to those around him. His parents, Harry and Nellie Cooper, and a brother, Harold Cooper, preceded him in death, reminding us of the legacy of love he carried forward. He is survived by his beloved wife, Marlene Cooper, who stood by his side through life’s seasons. Sons, Terry Cooper and his wife Debra, and Bryan Cooper. 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his brother Jerry Cooper and his wife Teresa, along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and countless dear friends.
Wayne Curtis Cooper's remarkable journey will be honored at a graveside service on February 9, 2026, at Mt. Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri. He was, and will always be, a source of inspiration and love to all who knew him. As we celebrate his life, let us remember his humble heart and the bright light he brought into our lives.
