Dorothy L. Weber, 86, Independence, MO passed away July 7, 2009. Services will be at 2 pm, Monday, July 13, 2009 at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St. S., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will precede the service beginning at noon. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to Christ United Methodist Church or Crossroads Hospice.
Dorothy was born Feb. 19, 1923 to Blanche and Emmett Nihill in Independence, MO and was a life-long resident. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1941. Dorothy married her husband of nearly sixty-five years on July 16, 1944. She was a member of Christ United Methodist and was a member of the Asbury Class there since its inception. She taught children’s Sunday School, was a representative to the Kansas City Methodist Youth Conference and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Dorothy was also a Cub Scout Den Mother, leading three sons through Cub Scouting and Scouting to Eagle and God & Country Awards.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her sister Frances Pauline Heiman and brother-in-law John Heiman. She is survived by her husband Jim Weber of the home; sons Douglas Weber, Sewell, NJ; Kirk Weber, Lee’s Summit, MO; David Weber and wife Alberta, Archie, MO; daughter Susan Baum and husband Scott, Maryland Heights, MO; grandchildren James N. Weber and wife Kelly, Anna Weber, Lauren Weber, Steven Baum, Nathaniel Weber, Kevin Baum and Karalyn Baum.
