Mary Weir, 59, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on September 2, 2009 surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Kansas City, MO and was a lifelong resident of the Kansas City area. She was a beloved wife, “special mother”, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She graduated from East High School and was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kaw Valley Engineering and Tri-County Mental Health Center. She retired in 2006 and got interested in jewelry making. She was a beautiful jewelry designer. She enjoyed playing Bunco with her friends. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Eric Weir, of the home; her mother, Halina Power; step-son, Bradley Fundis and wife Melanie, and their children, Jennifer, Alicia and Alex; her sisters and brother-in-laws, Donna and Casey Walat, Helen and Casey Wilczewski; a sister, Irene Sozanski; brother, John Power; nephews, Michael Wilczewski, Jeff Weir and wife Marva, and their children, Brandon and Heather; niece and husband, Andrea and Bob Przespolewski; and great nieces, Kayla and Hayley Przespolewski. Mary had many friends and lots of relatives that loved her. A day will not pass without many people thinking of and missing her. We know she is in a better place and free from pain now. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, September 7, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 E. Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Her family is indebted to her husband, Eric, for his devotion and loving ways of taking care of Mary around the clock. A special thanks to North Kansas City Hospital, Kansas City Hospice and Cancer Action, for all their kindness, expertise and commitment to Mary’s well-being and comfort.
