William V. Weir, 90, Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 8, 2011.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 AM Friday, March 11, 2011 at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association.
Bill was born July 2, 1920 in Independence, MO the son of V.P. and Callie Elizabeth (Wilcox) Weir. He was a WWII veteran serving with the U.S. Coast Guard. Bill retired in 1983 as Sexton from Mound Grove Cemetery. He was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church, the VFW and American Legion. Bill enjoyed gardening, hunting, trout fishing and was well known in his neighborhood for baking homemade bread.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and one sister.
Survivors include his loving wife Goldie of nearly 70 years; daughter, Janice Weir and sister Kathryn Nance.
