Losa LaJune Welborn, 95 of Lee’s Summit and Independence, MO passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at the Crown Care Center in Harrisonville, MO. Services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be in Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 1:00 p.m., until service time Thursday at the chapel. Donations may be made to the Geraldine Kidd Scholarship Fund c/o Cass Medical Center Foundation in Harrisonville, MO. LaJune was born June 16, 1913 in a homestead cabin in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to Independence, MO at a young age and graduated from William Chrisman High School. She worked as a wife, mother and homemaker who was a talented organist and pianist enjoyed music painting and ceramics and was a very spiritual person. She had played the piano and organ for several church groups and volunteer organizations throughout her life. She was a longtime active member of the Community of Christ Church, most recently the Harrisonville congregation. Prior to moving to Harrisonville she had spent many years in Lee’s Summit at John Knox Village and was active in playing for volunteer groups and hosted “Sing Along with LaJune” every week. She was married to Harvey Roland Welborn on January 7, 1933; he preceded her in death on January 12, 1994. Survivors include; a daughter, Loretta “Lorie” Lindsey and her husband George of Woodland Park, CO; a son-in-law, Fred Kidd and his wife, Connie of Peculiar, MO; a brother, Joy Duane Anderson of Cedar Rapids, IA; 6 grandchildren, Marcia Ann McQueary, Bradley Jay Kidd, Patrick Darin Kidd, Carese Richelle Mayer, Michele LaNae Vermuelen and Michael Harvey Mayer; 7 great children, 2 great great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Geraldine Kidd in 1995, a granddaughter, Pamela Jean Hancock in 1989 and a brother, Harold Freeman Anderson.
