Dollie D. Welch, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, March 30th 2013 joining her loved ones in heaven. A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3rd at Carson Speaks Chapel; 1501 W Lexington Ave. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, April 4th at St. Mary’s Parish; 611 N Liberty St. Independence. Cremation to follow.
Dollie was born November 6th 1928 in Sedalia MO to Robert Jerome and Dora Belle (Payne) Stewart as one of two children. She attended school at Proctor, Palmer Junior High and St. Mary’s Academy. In 1946 Dollie married serviceman, Frank Howard Welch. After Frank finished his Master’s they lived to various locations including: Oak Ridge, TN, Cincinnati, OH, Los Angeles, CA and finally to Oxnard with its lovely beaches until they returned to Independence to be near family. Together, Dollie and Frank raised three children. Dollie was a faithful Catholic and participated in the Altar and Rosary Society, Circle Nine and later became a Eucharistic Minister. She loved to travel and did so extensively across the globe. Dollie worked in various jobs including; Telephone Operator, Real Estate, and Personal Placement. She especially loved flowers and decorated her house and yard yearly with colorful blooms. Dollie is survived by her husband, Frank of the home; sons, Stuart Welch (Susan) and Gregory Welch; and daughter, Sheila McCoun (Terry); numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and other family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to St. Mary’s Parish.
