Agnes Virginia Wells, 94, of Sugar Creek, MO passed away Wednesday, October 14th, 2015. Rosary will be recited at 5:30pm Sunday, October 18th at Carson Speaks Chapel followed by visitation from 6- 8:00pm at the Chapel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am Monday, October 19th at St. Cyril’s Church, Sugar Creek, MO. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Agnes was born October 19th, 1920 in her home in Sugar Creek, as one of six children to Steve and Theresa Penyock. Her parents were Slavic immigrants and she was born the first generation of Americans in her family. She graduated from Northeast High School class of 1938. She worked for Hallmark, Sears, and eventually became the proprietor of Kross Lounge Ernie’s Steakhouse until her retirement in 2005. Agnes was a dedicated and hardworking mother who raised four wonderful children. She loved quilting, cooking, participating in the walking club, visiting her home at Lake of the Ozarks, but most of all enjoyed her church and being a part of the Sugar Creek community. Her family remembers her as humble, sweet, patient, reserved, and most of all loving.
Survivors include son, Mark T. Wells (Dee Lowry) of Sugar Creek; daughter, Mary Ann Hall (Larry) of Independence; and daughter, Diane Elizabeth Kerr of Prairie Village, KS; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and sister, Virginia Baker of Tulsa, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews who will miss her. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Tom, and Paul Penyock, Betty Daniel, and Velma Pott; and her beloved son, John Stephen Wells. The family encourages contributions to St. Cyril’s Church, where she was a life long member, in her memory.
