Robert Henry Welter, 85, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Shangri-La Rehab and Living Center.
Funeral services will be 2:30 PM Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the Ebenezer United Church of Christ; 206 W. Old Lexington Road, Levasy, MO. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 PM Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Robert was born January 9, 1924, the son of Daniel and Rebecca (Stoenner) Welter. He lived his entire life on the farm where he was born until he became a resident at Shangri-La Rehab and Living Center. His education began in a one-room schoolhouse, Bone Hill School, and graduated from Levasy High School. He was a lifelong member of Ebenezer United Church of Christ where he taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of the chancel choir for more than 50 years and was a member of the Men's Brotherhood. He was a 4-H leader and also served as a director on the West Central Electric Cooperative Board for 30 years.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Duane Robert Welter.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Inez (Schoppenhorst) Welter; son, Stuart Welter and his wife Mary of Eureka, MO; and daughters, Diane Miller and her husband David of Fulton, MO; and Amy Siefker and her husband Wayne of Levasy, MO; six grandsons, Jonathan Welter and his wife Lara, Simon Welter and his wife Kiki, Michael and Austin Miller, and Alexander and Benjamin Siefker and two granddaughters, Kathryn Welter and Olivia Siefker and one great-grandson, Gabriel Welter. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruth Hoffman and Dorothy (Omer) Kolkmeyer.
