Lester "Les" Wendleton

Lester “Les” L. Wendleton, Jr. 66, Independence, MO passed away Friday, May 8, 2009 at Centerpoint Medical Center.

Funeral and Masonic services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Shriner’s Hospital or the Clown Unit at Ararat Shrine.

Les was born June 24, 1942 in Independence, MO the son of Lester Lloyd, Sr. and Mildred (Helt) Wendleton. He retired after 30 years with AGCO formerly Alice Chalmers Tractors. Les was a member of the Scottish Rite, the Ararat Shrine and the Independence Masonic Lodge #76. He enjoyed fishing, motorcycle riding and bringing smiles to children’s faces. Les was well know as “Boxcar the Clown.”

His father preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife Ruth Ann Wendleton of the home; son, Lee Wendleton; mother, Mildred Wendleton; sister, Shirley Dillon and her husband Jim; adopted son, Vance Watkins; adopted daughter, Tammy Schmidt; nieces, Christi Dillon, Lori Thompson, Amy Maggard; and seven great nieces and nephews.
