Catherine Werges (Mayer)

Catherine Werges, 95 of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Village House Hospice. Private family services will be held with burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Catherine was born October 14, 1919 in Des Moines, IA to George and Margaret (Davis) Mayer. She spent her early life in Des Moines graduating from East High School. She had worked for 20 years as secretary for the director of nursing at the Independence Sanitarium. She was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing and cooking. She was a member of the Community of Christ, Summit Grove Congregation. She is survived by: a daughter, Laurine Russell and husband Henry of Lee’s Summit, MO; a son, Sid Werges and wife Mona of Columbia, MO; 4 grandchildren, Zach Russell, Regan Russell, Jason Werges and Jared Werges and 4 great grandchildren, Paige Werges, Maddie Werges, Jonah Werges and Sawyer Russell. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Laurence Werges in 2006, a brother, Ferg Mayer and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Chandler and Clara Mayer.
