George A. White, 77, Independence, MO passed away Sunday, February 15, 2009 at Kansas City Hospice House.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Friday, February 20, 2009 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church, 1915 N. Liberty, Independence, MO 64050.
Mr. White was born December 8, 1931 in Parkersburg, WV, the son of Albert and Amy Belle (Pryor) White. He was a U.S. Navy veteran for five years serving in the Korean War, and later served five years in the U.S. Air Force. George retired in 1987 from the FAA as an Electronics Technician. He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church for 30 years, the Independence 76 Blue Lodge Scottish Rite, the Ararat Shrine and he received his 50 year pin in February 2008 from the Masons. George enjoyed fishing and spending time with is son and grandchildren. He married JoAnn Moore in 1957.
Survivors include his wife JoAnn, of the home; his son, Eric J. White and his wife Jeanne of Santa Barbara, CA; grandchildren Truman and Samantha White. He was preceded in death by his parents
