Betty Lee Whitehead (Gardner)

Betty Lee Whitehead, 88 of Clinton, MO passed away, Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Appleton City Manor. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 13, 2015 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name to Alzheimer’s Association. Betty was born January 11, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to William Ivan and Dorothy (Murtenz) Gardner. She had worked for over 23 years as a discrepancy investigator for the IRS before she retired in 1993. She enjoyed modern and square dancing, ballet and reading. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and later a charter member of the Susquehanna Baptist Church. She was also a member of the McDonald Lodge #324 O.E.S. and the Ararat Shrine. She is survived by: a son Chris Whitehead and wife Sandra of Clinton, MO; a sister, Connie Tober of Fayetteville, AR; 2 brothers, John K. Gardner of Baltimore, MY and Kip Gardner of Fairfax, VA; 2 grandchildren, Katie Lynn Whitehead of N. Las Vegas, NV and Amanda Lynn Farley of Great Falls MT; 2 great grandchildren, Dassan Tallybarios and Arlo Farley and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald A.
