Debra Wienke

Debra Kathleen (Carr) Wienke, 52, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at her home after a courageous two-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Debra was born April 10, 1958 to Carl and Virginia (Houston) Carr. A lifelong area resident, Debra was a 1976 Raytown South graduate and then married Kurt Wienke. She was a sorter in the smalls department at UPS in Lenexa where she worked from 1997-2009, retiring due to her illness. Debra was very creative, enjoying crafts and cake decorating. A people person who went out of her way to help others, Debra will be missed for her strong, fighting, and fiery nature by all who knew and loved her. Debra is survived by her husband of 33 years, Kurt Wienke; two daughters Kate Wienke and Sarah Wienke; parents Carl and Virginia Carr; brother Larry Carr; two sisters Vivian Ballew and husband Chuck and Vickie Dorlac and husband Bill; and a host of extended family and many friends.
A visitation will be from 6-8:00 PM Sunday, November 28 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Services will be at 10:00 AM Monday, November 29 at the Chapel. Burial to follow at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kansas City Cancer Center Charitable Fund c/o GKCCF 1055 Broadway Suite 130, Kansas City, MO 64105.
