Dorothy M. Wildschuetz, 86, of Independence, MO passed September 29, 2009 at the Carmel Hills Living Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Services at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 5, at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 727 N. Main, Independence, MO 64050. Burial at Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Luke’s United Church of Christ. Dorothy was born April 23, 1923 in Jackson County, MO to Florenz Frederick and Mathilda E. (Brune) Knapheide. She was a graduate of William Chrisman High School. On October 11, 1942, she married George Frederick Wildschuetz. In 1984, she retired from the Independence School District where she had worked as a Food service cashier and assistant cook. Dorothy was passionate about her family and her church. She enjoyed spending time quilting and going fishing with her husband and sons. She was also passionate about her garden, and absolutely loved caring for her African Violets. She will be dearly missed. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, George Frederick Wildschuetz; and one son, Harvey Wildschuetz. She is survived by her three sons, Carl Wildschuetz and wife Mary of Oak Grove, Robert Wildschuetz and wife Betsy of Florissant, and Paul Wildschuetz and wife Kathy of Blue Springs; daughter-in-law, Sharon Wildschuetz of Lake Worth, FL; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
