Fulton Louis Wilhelm, 68 of Independence, MO passed away Monday, December 12, 2011 at his residence following a prolonged illness. Cremation is planned. Fulton’s family and friends will gather to remember his life from 6 to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at the Liberty Street Community of Christ 416 N. Liberty St., Independence, MO 64050. Fulton was born September 1, 1943 in Hollywood, CA to Louis and Laura (Fields) Wilhelm. The family returned to Fremont, NE where he attended public schools graduating in 1961. He later attended Pittsburg State Teachers College, where he met his first wife, Susan (Pate). Fulton had a zest for life. He was a follower of the Grateful Dead and known for his tie-dyed clothing and art that he sold thru his business, Blitz Wearable Art at the Independence Farmer’s Market. He had worked as Journeyman stage hand for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, IATSE Local #31 in Kansas City for a number of years and was best known as an accomplished spotlight operator. He was married to Phyllis Ann Sinnard on November 29, 1986; she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 2 daughters, Laura Susan Barthelme and husband Mike of Asbury, MO and Emilie Ann Garivay and husband David of Mountain View, CA; a son, Fulton Matthew Wilhelm of the home and 3 grandchildren, Jennifer, Michaela and Jaycee: his brothers and sisters of Local #31 and many friends that have become like family. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife Susan (Pate) Wilhelm.
