Richard Willcoxson

May 17, 1940 — April 18, 2008

Richard L. Willcoxson, 67, of Bates City, MO passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Cremation to follow. Richard was born May 19, 1940 in Kansas City, MO to Richard C. and MaryLee (Farmer) Willcoxson. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. Mr. Willcoxson was a valiant Fireman and Paramedic with the Kansas City Missouri Fire Department, retiring in 1987. October 26, 1971 was declared Richard L. Willcoxson day by then Mayor Charles Wheeler for his heroic actions. He later received a key to the city. Richard enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and spending time at the lake in his spare time. His world revolved around his family! Richard is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy (Farrell) Willcoxson; son Mike Willcoxson and his girlfriend Genea, daughters Misty Kirwan and her husband Dave, Shelly McCoy, Kristina Satterly and her husband Damian; his mother MaryLee Willcoxson; grandchildren Frank, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Jacob, Meghan and Rachael; his sister Betty Roberts and her husband Bill; special brother-in-law Mike Farrell; by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his father Richard C. Willcoxson; and grandson Christopher Bartholomew.
