William Cody Akers, affectionately known as Cody, was born on July 12, 1996, in Independence, Missouri. With a warm smile and a pleasant demeanor, he brought joy to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. A proud graduate of Grain Valley High School, Cody's life was characterized by his passionate zest for living. He found fulfillment in his work as a Bud Tender at KC Cannabis, where his friendly nature shone brightly, and he made many meaningful connections.
Cody was a man of diverse interests—his heart thrived in the great outdoors. He cherished his time fishing and hunting, reveling in the serenity only nature can provide. Cody was a foodie, he enjoyed not only tasting new creations but creating them as well. He had a special fondness for his guitars and the music he loved to play. His days were often filled with laughter, fun, and an unwavering support for his favorite team, the Kansas City Chiefs, symbolizing his deep-rooted love for his hometown.
Cody's spirit was characterized by love, loyalty, and an enduring friendship that touched the hearts of everyone around him.
Tragically, Cody's journey came to an end on January 3, 2025. Much too soon, he departed this world, leaving behind cherished memories and an indelible mark on those who loved him. Cody is survived by his loving parents, William “Jeff” and Tammy (Lorance) Akers; grandfather, John Lorance; girlfriend, Ruby Green; half-sister, Chloe Wood; a host of extended family and dear friends; and last but not least, his best dog, Bandit. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Betty Lorance, Willa “May” Akers, William “Bill” Akers; uncles, Greg Akers and John Lorance, Jr.
Cody’s Visitation will take place on January 12, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, Missouri 64055.
