William Anthony "Bill" Fairall Sr.

William Anthony "Bill" Fairall Sr. passed away on March 12, 2026, in Independence, Missouri. Born on August 24, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, Bill led a life marked by dedication, compassion, and a joyful spirit that touched all who had the privilege to know him.

Throughout his career, Bill worked as a mechanic for Montgomery Ward for many years. His reputation as a jack of all trades was well deserved—there seemed to be no problem he could not solve or item he could not repair. Whether it was a broken machine or a household mishap, Bill’s capable hands and keen mind brought solutions, earning him respect and gratitude from those around him.

Bill’s generosity extended far beyond his professional expertise. Those who knew him fondly remember his willingness to "give the shirt off his back" for anyone in need. The neighborhood children lovingly nicknamed him "the treat man," recalling his volunteer work at the Salvation Army where he joyfully shared treats with the youngsters which brightened their days. His smile and great sense of humor, coupled with a fondness for playful pranks, drew people to Bill naturally. He brought joy wherever he went.

A man of strong faith, Bill played an active role within his church. His commitment to his faith community reflected his character and the values he lived by every day. Bill will be greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 31 years, Joan; children, Steven Fairall (Olivia Rieke), Mary Fairall, William “Tony” Fairall Jr. (Tammy), Tommy Fairall and adopted daughter, Crystal Wyatt.; step-children, David Norris, Timmy Norris, Vernon Douglas, and Andy Douglas; siblings, Weldon Fairall Jr., Mike Fairall, Rick Adams, Mary Womack, Paula Battles, Ethel Adams and Elizabeth Fairall; 30 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Weldon Fairall Sr. and Alberta Rick; siblings, Roberta McKinzie, James Fairall and Charles Adams Jr.; and great-grandchild, Grace Wilmoth.
