William Raymond Rast, II, affectionately known as Bill, passed away peacefully on July 27, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, surrounded by the love of his family. Bill was born on August 24, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, and he dedicated his life to serving others and uplifting those around him.

With an impressive career that spanned three decades, Bill worked for the Salvation Army, where his commitment to helping others made a profound impact on his community. His loving and devoted nature shone through in all areas of his life, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Bill's ornery sense of humor and kindness endeared him to many, and he was truly loved by all.

Bill graduated from Truman High School as part of the class of 1978, an accomplishment that laid the groundwork for a life filled with purpose and dedication. He was a man of great faith, and this guiding principle inspired not only his professional life but also his personal commitments. A proud achievement in his youth was earning the title of Eagle Scout, an honor that showcased his determination, leadership, and deep value for community service. On August 1, 1996, Bill married Donna Pearce and together blending their much loved family.

Bill cherished summer family vacations, moments filled with laughter and joy that created lasting memories for his wife, and children. He took immense pride in his family, viewing them as his greatest accomplishment.

Bill's legacy will live on through his wife, Donna Rast; children, Mandie Williams, Nick (Angie) Rast, Jennifer Holt, Ashley Rast, Valarie (Kevin) Rangel, William R. Rast, III; grandchildren, Hailey and Robert Williams, Dakota, Cheyenne and Savanah Cox, Brooks Freeman, Valarie and Izzy Baker, Scarlett and Ruby Rangel; siblings, Carl Rast, Raymond (Sally) Rast, Balford “Ball” Rast, Mike Rast, Danny Rast, Donna (Paul) Fisher; extended family dear friends, and his beloved dog Scooter, who carry forward his spirit of love and devotion. His parents William Raymond Rast, I and Martha (Dodson) Rast; siblings Janice and Ricky Rast preceded him in death. As we gather to honor his memory, let us rejoice in the life he led and the love he shared.

A visitation will be held on August 1, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Salvation Army located at 14700 E Truman Rd, Independence, MO 64050, followed by a funeral service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. Bill will be laid to rest at Brooking Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri, following services.

Bill Rast's unwavering devotion to his family and community will always be remembered, and his loving spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to call him a friend, a husband, a father, and a grandfather.
