Marcia Ellen Williams Johnson, 82 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Villages of Jackson Creek. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will be at Blue Springs Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the First United Methodist Church, 400 W. Maple Independence, MO 64050. Marcia was born August 3, 1930 in Independence, MO to William and Mary (Westwood) Vardeman. She was a lifelong area resident who graduated from William Chrisman High School and received a bachelor’s in education from CMSC in Warrensburg and a master’s degree from Webster University. Marcia taught school in Blue Springs for 31 years. She enjoyed dancing with the Silver Dollar Square Dance Club and had a passion for her marvelous antique doll collection. Her family was the greatest joy in her life. Marcia married Robert L. Williams in 1951 and had two children, Thomas Leslie Williams and Diane Sue Martin. Robert died in 1984. Marcia later married E.J. Johnson who died in 2001. In addition to her two children she is survived by; a brother, William Vardeman; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
