Silas Marion Williams, 85, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, April 09, 2011 at Liberty Terrace Care Center.
A Celebration of Marion’s Life will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Carson-Speaks Chapel; 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Independence, MO. Burial to follow at Brooking Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Calvary Sounds Church; 2105 Whitney Rd. Independence, MO 64058.
Marion was born July 14, 1925 the son of Clarence and Fannie (Green) Williams. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and served at the Battle of the Bulge. Marion had worked for Reliable Insurance and later retired from Continental Disc Corporation. He was a member of the Calvary Sounds Church, where he served as a Deacon and was a member of the VFW Post 9997. Marion enjoyed fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Reba in 2003; son, Jimmy in 1987 and his stepbrother James Hick. Survivors include his daughter, Judy Reiter and her husband Arthur of Kansas City, Joan Cotea of Independence, four grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
