Wanda Lee Vail Williams, 72, Independence, Mo. passed away Feb. 16, 2005 at Independence Healthcare Center. A memorial service will be held at 6 pm, Friday, Feb. 18, 2005 at Salvation Army Corps, 14700 E. Truman Rd., Indep., Mo. 64050. Majors Joseph & Lois Wheeler will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the Indep. Salvation Army. Wanda was born Aug. 10, 1932 in Holdenville, OK. to Nolan Eugene and Goldie Irene (Johnson) Vail. Wanda, affectionately called "Wannie� by family and friends, attended William Chrisman High until 1948. She worked at Southwestern Bell in Kansas City until 1953. She married Chuck Williams in 1956 and moved to Pacoima, CA. She lived in Phoenix, AZ., Bullhead City, AZ. and came back to Independence in 1994. She belonged to the Salvation Army and was an active volunteer. She had a great sense of humor. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, brother Edward Vail and nephew Timothy Vail. She is survived by her daughter Vicki (Lynn) Irwin, and grandson Geoffrey Allen Irwin, both of K.C., MO; two sisters, Vivian Vail, Indep., MO. and Bertha Hockman, K.C, MO; brother Daniel Vail and wife Wanda, Lakeland, FL; and many nieces and nephews who loved her. Her life was lit up when she was around her grandson, Geoffrey and her great-nephews, Mason and Tre. Her family is especially grateful to Independence Healthcare physical therapists and nurses for their kindness, love, and care they gave to Wanda.
