James Taylor "J.T.� Willis, 84, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, February 21, 2005. Services will be 2 pm Friday, February 25th at Carson-Speaks Chapel; with interment in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the Chapel. JT was born April 26, 1920 in Jackson, TN to Harrison and Zadie Taylor Willis. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his US Army service during WW II. He was a Carman for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad, and he repaired clocks and watches in the area for many years. J.T. was preceded death by his parents; and a son, James Michael Willis in 2003. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Hazel LaVerne Willis; daughters, Joyce Dever and husband Roy of Blue Springs, MO, Pat Kilgore of Independence, MO; four grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great granddaughters; seven sisters; and one brother.
