Wilma Lucille Tosatto, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and friend, peacefully departed this world on May 24, 2025, in Independence, Missouri, at the age of 101. Born on June 21, 1923, in Plad, Missouri, Wilma embraced life with an open heart, leaving a legacy of love and kindness that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.
Wilma's early years were enriched by her education at Tunas High School in Tunas, Missouri, where she shared countless memories with her siblings. The warmth of her family shaped the person she would become, nurturing in her a spirit of generosity and compassion. Throughout her life, Wilma held a variety of jobs, from her cherished role as a waitress and employee at the Muehlebach Hotel to devoting her time as a volunteer at Baptist Christian Academy. However, her most treasured role was that of a homemaker. She created a sanctuary for her loved ones, where laughter echoed through the halls and love radiated in every corner. Her home was an inviting space, filled with the aroma of her cooking and the joy of shared moments. A woman of immense talent, Wilma found joy in quilting, pouring her heart into each stitch. Her creations were more than fabric; they were heartfelt gifts that wrapped her loved ones in warmth and affection. She took great pride in completing puzzles, relishing the challenge of both 2D and 3D designs. Her unwavering faith was evident as she began each day in her recliner, with two cups of coffee, reading her Bible, and indulging her sweet tooth with Rice Krispies treats. Wilma had a zest for life that was infectious. The thrill of trying her luck at the slot machines brought her joy, especially at Ameristar, where she celebrated many big wins. Her spirit sparkled like the fireworks she adored on the Fourth of July, creating beautiful memories that illuminated the nights under the sky. Her kind and loving nature drew people to her, and those who were fortunate enough to know her experienced the depth of her love. Wilma's laughter and warmth will echo through the lives she touched.
Wilma's passing is preceded by her parents, Robert and Etha Hannah (Hatfield) Rhodelander; her first husband, Thomas Bartee; her second husband and best friend, Joseph Tosatto; her grandson, Michael "Mikey" Haase; and son-in-law, Randy McElwee, and 10 siblings. Her legacy of love lives on through her daughters, Betty Haase(Tommy) and Linda McElwee; her grandchildren, David Haase (Terry), Anthony Haase, Timothy Haase, Christopher Haase (Ella), Angel Davis (Patrick), Wayne Breshears (Shelley), and Penny Blakely (Franklin); her son-in-law whom she loved dearly, Robert Edwards (Sue); 19 great grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.
Her family and friends are invited to celebrate Wilma's incredible life during the visitation on May 30, 2025, at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, MO, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service starting at 10:00 AM.
