Robert “Bob” Wilson, 86, of Independence, MO passed away November 1, 2010 at Rosewood Health Center. A visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington, Independence, MO. Graveside services at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 5, at Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO. Contributions may be made to the Spofford Home for Children. Bob was born January 14, 1924 in State Center, Iowa to Hal and Florence (Bence) Wilson. In 1942, he graduated from William Chrisman High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving during WWII. After his discharge from the Marine Corps, Bob married Harriett “Sammy” Crawford on April 22, 1945. Bob worked as a machinist for 36 years in Sugar Creek, and was a 65 year member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence. He was a Boy Scout leader at Northern Blvd. Methodist Church for six years. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and Carl Wilson; and two sisters, Helen High and Hallie Cobb. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Harriett “Sammy” Wilson; son, Chris David Wilson; two daughters, Cheryl L. Reeves and Rosanna L. Young; three granddaughters, Aprille, Alisha and Abigail; one great grandson, Montana; and many other relatives and friends. He will be lovingly missed.
