Ella M. (Ultican) Winholtz, 91 of Blue Springs, formerly of Independence, MO, passed Sunday, July 9, 2006 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 13, 2006 at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 5555 N.W. Valley View Dr. Blue Springs, MO 64015. Burial will be in the Mound Grove Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. Ella was born May 17, 1915 in Blackfoot, ID to William P. and Ella (Lamore) Ultican. She grew up in Idaho and graduated from Bliss High School in Bliss, ID in 1934. She then attended Independence Sanitarium & Hospital School of Nursing graduating in 1937 as a Registered Nurse and had worked as a private duty nurse and later in the labor and delivery at the "San� until she retired in 1963. She was an active member of Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She enjoyed reading and K.U Basketball and church activities. Her passion in life was children. She and her husband were foster parents and legal guardians for mainly disabled children. Ella is survived by her husband of 66 years, Gerald S. Winholtz; a daughter, Barbara Starr of Blue Springs, MO; a son, Mack Winholtz and his wife Arlene of Blue Springs, MO; 3 grandsons and their wives, Bryan & Cheryl Starr, Gerry and Debbie Starr, Kit and Mandy Starr; 2 granddaughters and their husbands, Kristina and Dan Pearson and Angela and Paul McFarland; and 8 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, David Starr in 1991.
