Rick Winship, 53, of Independence, MO passed away March 26, 2015. A visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the Stone Church Community of Christ Congregation, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Cremation will follow. Rick was born June 4, 1961 in Lock Four, PA to Don and Alice Winship. He graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1979. Rick enjoyed sailing, hunting and fishing, camping and skiing. He was the Captain at City of Independence Fire Department, Pumper 8. Rick will be remembered by his family and friends as a loving man, who could always play a good joke. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Cleo and Edith Winship; and maternal grandparents, Leonard and Ruth Houser. Rick is survived by his wife of 13 years, Heather Winship; daughter, Ashley Hinck and husband Jordan; sons, Miles and Trevor Winship; parents, Don and Alice Winship; brother, Dave Winship and wife Glenna; niece, Niki Robinson and husband Mark; nephew, Brandon Winship; father and mother-in-law, Gary and Rita Deal; brother-in-law, Eric and Theresa Deal; and nephew and niece, Will and Amelia Deal.
