Frederick W. Wisner, 77, of Independence, MO passed away April 10, 2014 at his home. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St. South, Independence, MO. Fred was born January 14, 1937 in Santa Rosa, NM to Everett and Stella (Lott) Wisner. He lived his early childhood in Tucamcari, NM. At the age of 17, he joined the Marine Corps. In 1958, Fred started his career with AT&T in NM, and in 1968 he transferred to Kansas City. He retired as a programmer for AT&T in 1989. Fred enjoyed silver smithing and was passionate about gardening vegetables, African violets and especially roses. He was a jokester and loved to make people laugh. He will be remembered as a caring and helpful man, who loved his grandchildren so much. Fred was preceded in death his parents; two brothers, Robert and Roy Wisner; and uncle, Arthur Lott. He was survived by his wife, Elizabeth Wisner; two daughters, Cindy Kendall (Trey) and Christin Clark; one son, Steve Wisner; stepdaughter, Kimberly Glackin (James); stepson, Kevin Chapman (Teresa); nine grandchildren, Lauren, Ryan, Megan, Kyle, Cameron, Jacob, Nicholas, Gillian and Saoirse; as well as his loving dog, Dawg.
