Victor Witte

Victor J. Witte, 94, of Independence, MO passed away February 1, 2008 at the Rosewood Health Center. A Visitation will be held from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, at the Groves Chapel (Community Room), with a service to follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel; entombment at Mound Grove Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Groves Endowment Fund or the Temple Endowment Fund. Victor was born on December 10, 1913 in Hartsburg, MO to Gustave A. and Augusta C. Witte. He was a full-time minister in the Community of Christ church for 34 years, having served in Europe, New England, and other areas in the United States. Victor was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Helen E. Witte; and one brother, Frederick Witte. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Lynn V. and Joanne Witte, Loveland, CO; one daughter and son-in-law, Jean L. and Reed Holmes; granddaughter, Kristin Smith; grandson, Lance B. Carter; two great grandchildren, Kierie and Patrick Smith, all of Pepperell, MA; and one brother and sister-in-law, August and Alta Witte of Independence, MO.
