James V. Wolfer, 73, Independence, MO passed away at his home Feb. 20, 2009. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm, Monday, Feb. 23, 2009 at the Northland Abundant Life Worship Center, 7700 N. Church Rd., K.C, MO 64158. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the American Cancer Society.
Jim was born Feb. 16, 1936 in Conception, MO. He was a salesman for J.I. Case Farm Equipment for twenty-seven years before retiring from there in 1978. He then began a second career at Shook, Hardy & Bacon law firm where he worked for nineteen years before retiring from there last November. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of Eagles Lodge #47 in Kansas City, MO. and a member of the church.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of fifty years, JoAnn Wolfer, of the home; daughter Michele Saunders and husband Blaine, Leavenworth, KS; son Tony Wolfer and wife Cheryl, Olathe, KS; daughters Margie Hughes and husband Tony; daughter Kelly Wolfer, all of Kansas City, MO; son Jeff Wolfer and wife Carrie, Kearney, MO; sisters Monica Ebrecht, Skidmore, MO; Edna Ramos, Maryville, MO; brother Charles Wolfer, Oak Grove, MO; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
