Cecil Wood, 87, of Independence passed away Thursday, March 14th 2013. A private service will be held at a later time. Interment will be at Versailles Cemetery in Versailles, MO.
Cecil was born November 25th 1925 in Johnson Co., AR to Virgil N. and Estel (Garrett) Wood. The family moved to Buckner, MO in 1942. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Cecil spent most of his life in some phase of paint business. In later years he was owner of a paint and wallpaper store in Kansas City for 40 years, retiring in 1977. He married wife Glendora J. Murray in 1952 and they have been together for near 61 years.
Cecil was survived by wife, Glendora of the home; daughter, Mary Wood and family; two grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one great grandchild; and three great great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family encourages contributions to Hope House; PO Box 577 Lee's Summit, MO 64063.
