Norma Jane Woodard, 80, went to be with the Lord and her husband of 60 years, Frank Woodard, on March 28, 2008. Norma Jane Woodard grew up in Homeston, Iowa with nine brothers and sisters. She married Frank Woodard in 1947 and the couple farmed in Iowa until moving to Independence, Missouri in 1956. Norma was a skilled seamstress, loved to quilt and made the best holiday meatballs ever. She spent her free time working the many beautiful gardens in her backyard, canning fruits, vegetables and jellies, and taking care of her beloved pets. She is survived by one son, Jerry Woodard and wife Virginia; three grandchildren, Shawn McDonald and wife Kate, Shannon McDonald, and Heather Hulet and husband Mark; Norma was proud of her six great-grandchildren, Erin and Claire McDonald, Sydney and Samantha McDonald and Keagan and Killian Hulet; and was survived by one sister, Dorothy Tolly and husband John. A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. A visitation will precede the service from 12:00 p.m.-12:30 p.m. at the gravesite, and family will greet friends at that time.
