Cecil Workman

March 11, 1931 — December 27, 2015

Cecil G. Workman, Jr., 84, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Sunday, December 27, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00pm Monday, January 4th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2:00pm at the chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
Cecil was born March 11, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to Alice L. (Leavitt) and Cecil G. Workman, Sr. After high school he enlisted in the United State Marine Corp where he proudly served from 1948 – 1952. During his service he earned numerous awards including the Purple Heart Medal with Gold Star. He married the love of his life, Gloria Jean (Rowlett) on October 1, 1980. They spent 35 loving years together traveling in their RV’s, square dancing, trout fishing, hunting, and camping. Cecil worked for Southwestern Bell as a cable repair technician for 33 years until his retirement in 1986. He volunteered at VFW Post 4242, VFW Post 4197 in Osceola as Quarter Master, for Disabled American Veterans as a hospital escort, as well as volunteering for the Purple Heart Organization. His family remembers him as a laid back man with a good sense of humor and a strong work ethic. Cecil is loved and will be missed by wife, Gloria of the home; daughters, Linda Caldwell (Rod) of Troupe, TX; Debra Daniels (Rusty) of Cincinnati, OH; Shirley Brant (Mike) of Lubbock, TX; Cherry Brewer (Tom) of Midland, TX; and Shelly Cook of New Deal TX; son, Robert Workman of Port Arthur, TX; stepchildren, Carl Gould (Lillie) of Independence; Rhonda Hensley (Curtis) of Mt. Vernon, TX; Bryan Gould of Independence; Nathan Looney of Independence; and brother, Wayne Workman of Marysville, TN; twenty grandchildren; and twenty two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Shirley Workman; twin sons, Larry and Gary; and son, Cecil Workman III.
