Frederick Worth

Frederick E. Worth, age 77, died at the MO Veterans Home in Warrensburg MO on July 20, 2009. Services will be held at 10 am, Sat., July 25, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, Missouri. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends are welcome to greet the family from 5-7 pm, Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are welcome to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, the American Diabetes Assoc. or to the MO Veterans Home in Warrensburg MO.
Born September 9, 1931 in Independence MO to William and May (Chronister) Worth, he attended William Chrisman High School (1949) and graduated from Central MO State University in 1954 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Fred served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954, attaining the rank of Corporal. During his time in the service, Fred was honored with medals for Korean Service, United Nations Service, National Defense Service and Good Conduct. On August 24, 1951, he married Marguerite E. Eagan at Palmer Lake Colorado.
Fred lived in Independence, Branson, and Mountain Grove Missouri. Fred worked with his father in Worth’s Garage, as well as Southtown Ford, and Galen Boyer’s. In 1970, he moved to Branson as owner of Branson Engine and Marine. In 1980, he owned Young’s Furniture and Carpet store in Mountain Grove. While in business, Fred received many recognitions for Merchant of the Year and for service in Chamber of Commerce. His greatest enjoyment was selling furniture while working for Silver Dollar City during his retirement beginning in 1993 and ending with the second retirement in 1999.
Fred was a member of Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and more recently the Lexington Restoration Church. He held the office of elder and pastored several congregations during his life in Independence and Mansfield MO. He was also active in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say with the Boys Scouts. He was active in many hobbies of building their homes, flying, fishing, beekeeping, and model airplane remote control clubs.
Fred will be especially remembered for his contributions in service to church, family and community.
Survivors include Marguerite of Warrensburg, Eugene and Janet Worth (son and wife) in Provo Utah, Allison and Scott Norwood (daughter and husband) in Warrensburg Missouri, and grandchildren, Ross and Kim Worth of Cameron, Joshua and Jacob Norwood of Warrensburg, He is also survived by a great-granddaughter, Shelby Christine Worth, of Cameron. Fred was preceded in death by both parents William and May Worth.
