Jerry Wrabec

September 25, 1925 — February 12, 2009

Jerry R. Wrabec of Sugar Creek, MO passed away peacefully on February 12, 2009 surrounded by the family who loved him.
Jerry was born in 1925 to Paul and Theresa (Emro) Wrabec. He was raised and lived his whole life in Sugar Creek. He was most proud to have been a veteran of World War II serving in the Navy in the American Area, Asiatic Pacific and Philippine Liberation and earning the Victory Medal. He was stationed on the USS Alcona. He retired from the General Services Administration in 1983. He was a life long member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Mail Handlers Union AFL-CIO and the 1st Catholic Slovak Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Joseph Wrabec, his sisters Pauline Wipotnik Heckmueller, Marcia Haworth, Theresa McAuley and Agnes Wrabec.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his brothers, Leonard (Mary) and Stanley Wrabec both of Sugar Creek; his sisters Mildred Kelly, Raytown; Fran Enges, Port Angeles, WA; Lorri Hey, Merriam, KS; Sylvia Begley, Pueblo, CO; Carol Clairmont, Bristow, VA. 13 nephews, 9 nieces and many great-grand nephews and nieces. The fish in the Ozarks are a little safer with your passing, but all of us are sadden. Thank you, Jerry for all you have done for us. We will never forget you.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church. Burial to follow at Woodlawn St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Monday at Carson-Speaks Funeral Home with a rosary said at 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Cyril’s Catholic Church.
