Alice Wright, 85, of Independence, MO passed away peacefully in the loving presence of her family on Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Centerpoint Medical Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at the chapel. Burial to follow at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Powell Gardens or Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. Alice was born in Gaylord, KS to Carl and Mary (Beckman) Henning. She lived in the Kansas City and Independence area for over 50 years. Alice was a member of Abiding Savior Lutheran Church. She was a loving mother and a cherished grandmother to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved gardening and especially enjoyed her roses. Alice was preceded in death by her loving husband of 52 years, Alva Wright. She is survived by her three daughters, Shirley Haley, Patricia (Scott) Vidlak and Pam (Mark) Tomes; seven grandchildren, Angela (Scott) Dempsey, Jon (Catherine) Haley, Jennifer (Joby) Nothnagel, Alicia (Bob) Garcia, Steven Vidlak, Ashley (Chris) Schaff, Kendall Tomes; and four great grandchildren, Courtney Haley, Macey Haley, Kaitlin Alice Dempsey and Bray Dempsey. Alice will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
