Tamsey “Tammy” Wurtz, 62, of Independence, MO, passed away March 7, 2015. A Memorial Visitation will be from 2-4 pm, March 10, 2015 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Tamsey was born on January 12, 1953 in St. Joseph, MO to Samuel and Doris (Robart) Hess. At a young age Tammy was stricken with Polio, but she didn’t let that slow her down, going on to be a Grand Finalist at the Victory Dru International Dance Tournament Holiday at the Broadoor in Colorado Springs. She truly enjoyed dancing, especially Disco and Swing. Tammy was Physical Therapist for over 35 years. She received the Research-Volker award for 25 years of service to Research Hospital. After years of suffering with the effects of polio, Tammy retired in 2010. She enjoyed collecting Pillsbury Doughboy items, frequently sharing and exchanging on E-Bay. Tammy is survived by: husband of 25 years, James (J.B.) Wurtz; sisters Mary Kay Kerns, DeLana Hess, and Tina Hess; brother, Glenn Hess; special niece Dora Kettly; a host of nieces and nephews; and her four legged children, King and Gizmo. Tammy is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Andrea Hess, and a brother Vernon Hess. Contributions may be made to NorthCare Hospice House in Tammy’s name.
