John T. “Sonny” Yeager, Jr. 76, Deepwater, MO passed away Monday, June 1, 2009 at Research Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 5, 2009 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM Friday At Clinton Memory Garden. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 207 E. Atkinson Ave. Butler MO. 64730.
John was born August 9, 1932 in Clinton, MO the son of John Taylor, Sr. and Flossie (Webb) Yeager. He was a 1950 graduate of North Kansas City High School and received his Bachelors Degree in Science from CMSU. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. John was employed as a chemist with Pratt & Lambert in Buffalo, NY, and retired as Vice President after 37 years. He was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Butler, MO where he taught Sunday School, served as Counsel Member and assisted in Preaching. He enjoyed golfing, camping, square dancing and always had at least one book he was involved in reading. John was a quick-witted person who always had a joke and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother in law, Glenn McFarland.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Nancy Yeager; daughters, Karen Yeager of Lee’s Summit; and Kelly Lindley and her husband David of Atlanta, GA; son, John Taylor Yeager, III and his girlfriend Joy West, of Lawrence, KS. Grandchildren, Taylor, Drew and Shelby Staudinger; mother, Flossie Yeager; brothers and sisters, Don Yeager and his wife Pat of Raytown; Sis McFarland of Kearney; Jerry Yeager and his wife Sharon of Pleasant Valley; Judy Hirsch and her husband Paul of Raytown; Jim Yeager and his wife Kris of Liberty; Cindy Rose and her husband Bill of Kansas City; and his beloved dog, Sissy.
