Roy C. Yoakum, 84, formerly of Liberty, MO passed away December 1, 2009 at his home in Bethany, MO. Roy was born July 4, 1925, the only son of Earl and Eva Yoakum, which preceded him in death. As a boy he resided in the town of Richmond, MO, where he was born and raised. Roy also attended Richmond public schools and eventually received his high school diploma. Shortly after Roy graduated high school in 1942 he was drafted to fight in World War II for the U.S. Air Force, where he became a radio operator. Roy was drafted into the armed services as a private and returned a Staff Sergeant. Upon returning to the U.S. Roy then became re-acquainted with Maefan R. Warren in 1948, but was soon sent back over seas to fight in the Korean War. When Roy returned to the states he and Maefan Warren were married on November 23, 1950. Roy worked at the Claycomo Ford Assembly Plant for 30 years and eventually retired in 1978. Roy was also a Mason for over 50 years. Roy and Maefan resided in their home in Liberty, MO for 47 years and in 2006 sold their home and moved to a home built in Bethany, MO, by their grandson Bill Guerber and son Alan Yoakum. They moved to Bethany to be close to their son Alan. Before Roy became very ill he and Maefan loved to fish and spend time with their family. Roy C. Yoakum was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather that will be greatly missed. See you in Heaven. Roy is survived by his wife, Maefan Yoakum who still resides in the home in Bethany, MO after 59 wonderful years of marriage. Roy is also survived by his son, Roy A. Yoakum and wife Shannon of Bethany, MO; four grandchildren, Bill Guerber and wife Kelly, Theresa Morris, Tyrone Guerber, Richard Yoakum and wife Jessica; six great grandchildren, Ashley Guerber, Amber Ellis, Brittnie Brown, Lacey Guerber, Luke Yoakum, Isiah Yoakum; and three great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Georgianna L. Guerber, who eagerly awaits her fathers arrival in Heaven. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. with a service to follow at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 4, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Burial at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, in Richmond Memory Gardens, Richmond, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Harrison County Home Health and Hospice, 1700 Bethany Ave., Bethany, MO 64424.
