Martha Young

Martha Jo Young, 85, of Independence, MO peacefully passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2011 after a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1-2:00 p.m. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208. Martha was born February 25, 1925 in Wingo, KY to Robert and Martha Lucene (Chandler) Gossum. She was employed by Wonder Bread Hostess Cake at their retail store on 291 for 15 years before retiring. Martha is survived by her children Harry M. Young, Lana Hull and husband Dr. Richard Hull, Diane Cusimano and husband Renato, Debbie Richardson and husband Duwane; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Tom H. Young in ’03, and her son Dana Young in ’87.
